Abstract
The main perspective is the rights based approach to local policy design, implementation and budgeting as an alternative to social assistance perspective.
Urban wellbeing rests upon reconciling human rights approach with capabilities, in specific of vulnerable groups (women, children, elderly, people with disabilities, refugees). Auditing of municipal policies requires related indicators of wellbeing for each vulnerable group.
Discussions will be based on indicator examples from the handbook: Gülay Günlük-Şenesen et al. 2021. Human Rights Cities Indicators, Raoul Wallenberg Institute and Research Worldwide Istanbul. The group is expected to contribute with cases from Italy.
Suggested orientation reference: Aoife Nolan, Rory O’Connell and Colin Harvey (eds).2013. Human Rights and Public Finance-Budgets and the Promotion of Economic and Social Rights, Hart Publishing.
The seminar is open to E4E PhD students, teachers and postdoctoral fellows and will be held in English.
Participation is free, upon registration.
