Seminar organized by Ph.D Programme in Labour, Development and Innovation Unimore – Marco Biagi Foundation

Economics Department Marco Biagi, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia – Marco Biagi Foundation

Institute for Labour Law, Faculty of Law, Georg-August-University of Göttingen

The lecture shall deal with the digitalisation of the world of work and the challenges this development evokes for employment law. To this purpose the lecture shall identify which parts of conventional employment law are mainly under pressure and whether and how the legislator, the courts, scholarship and the social partners try to reconcile economic and technological demands on the one side and social protection of workers on the other. In particular the lecture will deal with the tensions between increasingly flexible working time schemes and working time regulations, with employee data protection, with the role of works councils and their participation rights in this transformation process and finally with platform work as a new kind of the organisation of work. With all this in mind, the focus of the lecture will be on German and – if relevant – European law as well as to a certain extent on the actions and reactions of the social partners at sectoral and company level in Germany.

The seminar is open to E4E PhD students, teachers and postdoctoral fellows and will be held in English.

Participation is free, upon registration.
An e-mail with the login link will follow. Access to the Big Blue Botton platform must be carried out with the references of name and surname indicated during registration.
